What is Solar PV?
Solar Photovoltaics, or Solar PV for short, is a technology in which daylight is converted into electricity to power your home. Depending on your location you can typically generate around 40% of your home’s annual requirement for electricity. With the new Government backed Feed In Tariff Scheme you get paid for the electric you produce! With a Landmark Solar PV system you could earn up to £1600 every year for 25 years, TAX FREE!
How does Solar PV work?
Solar PV requires only daylight, not necessarily sunlight, and is therefore capable of generating electricity on cloudy days. Solar PV works equally well in urban or rural locations. It can be installed on the roof of most homes that can support the equipment and can be easily connected to a building’s electricity supply.
Where will Solar PV work?
The amount of energy in the sunlight reaching the Earth’s surface is equivalent to around 10,000 times the world’s energy requirements! However the amount of available sunlight in the UK varies greatly. The south of the country has more available light than the north. The total annual energy available varies from approximately 1,259 kWh per m2/year in the South-West of England to 850 kWh per m2/year in Scotland. That’s a difference of £££££/year depending on where you live in the UK!
